Every room in your home needs an accent of sorts to enhance the overall look and feel of the room. This may be a piece of artwork, lighting, a feature wallpaper or furniture. Most of our clients today customise their furniture by first selecting the size that is right for the room, then creating a bespoke look with fabrics from our extensive upholstery library.
More often than not, our clients will opt to design a plain textured suite alongside an accent armchair to add some flair. This is a smart way to design furniture as a lounge suite will last many years to come, and it pays to ensure you select a fabric which will suit your personal style, and the feel of your home. This is where our expert consultants can help you to create the perfect look.
It’s easy to create a WOW armchair, and this can do so much to enhance your room. Here are some tips to help get you started.
1. Colour – Ask yourself: What is a colour that brings you so much joy? Easy, cover your armchair in that colour.
2. Accessories – Keep your accessories a little more understated to let the armchair sing!
3. Lighting – Whether it’s natural or artificial, ensure that your furniture is well lit. A floor lamp alongside your armchair can look absolutely stunning. HOWEVER – if you’re placing your furniture close to a window, make sure that your upholstery fabric has a lightfastness rating of 5 or above on the Blue Wool Scale. You don’t want your lovely new furniture fading within 6 months.
4. Let your creativity flow – don’t let yourself get too restricted by your original design direction. Try to let go of your own guidelines a little – this is where the magic can happen.
