How To Do : Gender Neutral Bedrooms

Cover18

It’s an age-old dilemma! When a couple decorate together, whether it’s the first time or the tenth time, there will always be some level of conflict. Some couples are fortunate and have very similar tastes, however we aren’t all that lucky - they don’t say opposites attract for no reason!

What appeals to one person won’t necessarily be embraced by the other — and that’s when battles begin! So to get you designing a master bedroom that BOTH of you can enjoy, check out these helpful tips and some of our favourite bedrooms below:

1. If you are fond of florals, but want to avoid creating an overly feminine feel, choose graphic, abstract or geometric floral-inspired patterns.

2. Any colour can be made more ‘neutral’ by darkening it or adding grey alongside

3. Some colours, like green, are intrinsically gender-neutral because they haven’t been included in the typical cultural stereotype. Olive, dark green, and even lime green are an easy go-to colour that makes everyone happy.

4. Use a mixture of shapes within the room. It may be as simple as a round bedside table, rather than a square. This subtle change can make a world of difference!
